What is up with Google
MSN and Yahoo are both treating my site well. MSN has me #70 for coffee and climbing. But Google has me still #260 for "Bean Coffee Shop", and now when I check links to my site with Google it is coming up with NOTHING. :( I still have my PR so I know my site is not banned, I just can't figure out what they are doing.

Hi Pete,
I know this will just be repeating what you already know but I gotta say it anyways - With google be patient.
You are doing all the right things - you just gotta wait - maybe a long time.
Having said that, they do seem to be up to something a little odd at present, my search engine saturation with google is yo-yo'ing madly at present - one minute I have somewhere up near 100,000 entries, the next it drops to near a 10th of that. My current problem is MSN. They really dont like me at the moment. When I get chance I will have to put some effort in improving things with them. Still, if it is a choice between MSN and google - which it may well be - what is right for one doesnt seem to work with the other, then I will stick with the big G for the time being.
Cheers,
Rich

I think I have to just sit with the other children and play nice in the sandbox. Tough when you are ... older than that. ;)
I know I just have to be patient and wait but it is tough. I have been working on backlinks, mostly through forum posts lately, I sort of switch between directory listings and forums as they are the easiest ways to get them. I have a little bit of SEO work to finish on the site but nothing too earth shattering. I also have some print advertising coming out next week, we will see how that goes.
Patience is a virtue, but it is hard to sit and wait for the big G to come. ;)

I have heard that Google likes old sites better than new sites.
In any case, my wife's site consistently ranks highly in Google for the products we sell (often #1) but I still need to work on AOL, MSN and Yahoo. I just haven't had the time.

Hey Jared, thanks for stopping by. :)
I know I am probably in the sandbox for around 10 months from what I have read. You would think that even in the sandbox things would be consistent, they are NOT. One day I rank (not well), then next day I am nowhere to be found. It makes it really hard to figure out if what I am doing SEO wise is good or not. The on page optimization is good, MSN likes it and Yahoo seems to also. It is Google that has me worried as I can't make any sense out of what they are doing. I think just keep trying to get inbound links and wait. I HATE waiting. :(
