This is my blog about the trials and tribulations of setting up our web site.

I thought it was over

In the past 2 weeks people created about 50 bogus accounts on my site. I just deleted them all which is a time consuming thing to do. Then there are all the tests of our payment system so I go to check on things on my account screen and it is all taken up with rejected payments. The message to everyone who "plays" in my store is ....GET YOUR OWN STORE AND STOP F%&KING WITH MINE!!!!

Hi JR,

I appreciate your problem. I have a fair number of phoney accounts set up on my store. One quick question, is there any particular problem with this I am likely to come across, other than b*ggering up the statistics? I have never gone through to check how many test accounts have been setup and now it would mean ploughing through several thousand genuine accounts - not something I really wish to do.

I dont have the problem with the payment processor as I am using HSBC to handle all the payments. The testers probably go as far as accessing the HSBC site but they would then have to actually complete a payment to place the order. This I obviously would not mind!!

Just wondering really if there is anything I should be aware of that could cause me problems in the future.

Cheers,
Rich

Hi Rich,

As far as the accounts go it is not a problem, I just hate seeing all these accounts there. I don't have thousands of accounts (yet) so it is easier to delete them I guess. I just get rid of the obvious ones, if there is any doubt I keep them. After the News Feed and CCGV work is complete my next project is integrating the osC site completely into Sugar CRM. That will also include all our wholesale customers so if I get 25 fake accounts a week in that system I will have a problem then.

On my payment processor they show all the completed and attempted transactions on the same page. I had to go to page 2 to find the transaction I was looking for and that is when I lost it today with these people.

Thanks for stopping by, glad to see you here. :)

I think my problem is short term, because of the CCGV contribution everyone wants to see my year old version working for some reason. The My Store section does create a lot and then I just deleted them but the more real customers you have the harder it gets. I was having a really busy week and I just lost it when I went to find a customer and then had to check the payment and saw all those bogus accounts and test payments.

I put basically the same message up in my osC blog and was really expecting a PM from a team member but it didn't happen.

I am working on version 2 of my site and if I do put it up on osC I will take you up on that code. Thanks.
