Biting off more than you can chew

I have taken on the massive task of getting a working version of CCGV up and running. It was so buggy and almost impossible to install. I think most of the bugs have been worked out now, just a few more things to check. I am checking and changing a lot of the text in it also, there were punctuation, spelling, and gramatical errors all over the place. Also redesigning the emails that it sends out so they are more informative to the customer. I am just doing the english part and making sure the code works, others have offered to do the other languages which is amazing. Still it is a huge job and without the others help I would never be able to finish it.

Hey, did people know that the spanish language files do NOT contain any spanish text. I can't figure that one out.

Hi Gary,
The CCGV gives the store owner the ability to give or sell Gift Vouchers to customers. They can also give customers coupons that can be used on specific products or categories.

For most store owners it is overkill as most just want to give a certain $ discount on the customers first order. That is just a very simple mod.

Having said that CCGV is the most downloaded contribution on osC so a lot of people have it and will probably continue to use it so a working version would be a good thing. I also think that when contributions are being added to MS3 (whenever that is) a better base for the team to build on would be a good thing. As it is right now it is very hard for not only the store owner but also the customer to figure out.

Thanks for stopping by, :)

Hi Gary,

I only use it to 'give' customers a voucher (code) in their welcome email. Some store owners set up the Gift Vouchers as products so they sell them just as any other product in their store.

The purchaser (the same as the welcome email)receives a code that can can be redeemed and added to their account. Then upon checking out they can use the Gift Voucher amount against their purchase.

The codes are automatically generated from osC.

This thread discusses a much simplier way of doing what 'most' store owners need, which is just to be able to offer a % discount for new customers. $ would be nice also.

IMO that is enough for 90% of store owners.
